Hair Cut

I wanted something a little shorter (yet still long) for the summer so my mom cut off about 4-5 inches and added some more layers. I really like it...what do ya'll think???

Bestest Friends

Mia said to me last week "Mom, Averi is my best friend" - my heart TOTALLY melted. I didn't even know she knew that phrase:) And then today we were at the park taking a walk and she said to me "mommy, thank you for my sister". How sweet is that?! Here are a few precious pictures my mom took the other day of them playing and loving on each other...

Big Mountain Coffee Fundraiser

The youth group from our church, Shades Mountain Independent held a fundraiser this past Friday night at a local coffee shop to raise money for my parents before they head back to KAZ. They had live music, great food, coffee and refreshments. It was SUCH a great time and a huge success. The place was packed by the end of the night. They raised a total of $2500 for my parents - so awesome! Here are a few pictures...

Picnic at the Park

I took Mia to the doctor this morning and she has bronchitis. He prescribed a Z-Pac for her. I'm telling you I would rather have a sick 3 yr. old over a sick 1 yr. old any day. She can tell me what hurts, doesn't wake up during the night, doesn't get clingy/fussy, doesn't have a super high fever etc...:) This is the first time Mia has been to the doctor in a year and a half. She's a wopping 26 lbs:) At least she finally got over the 25 pound mark. She is 5th percentile for weight and 25th percentile for height. She's just a little, little girl:)

We went to the park had a little picnic for lunch today. I was trying to clean out the fridge so we had a fun lunch of strawberries, cheese, grapes, pickles, crackers and orange juice. The girls loved it! Then we strolled over to feed the ducks. Here are a few pictures...

What's Happening

We are back from our last soccer tournament of the season. We played in Georgia this weekend...always an adventure and lots of drama playing teams from there:) We made it to the finals and lost 1-0. The girls played awesome though and we were proud of them for getting so far especially with multiple injuries and only 1 sub.

Mia stayed with my good friend Jenny in Newnan during the tournament and got to catch up on playtime with her buddy Landon who is also 3. She had such a great time but is absolutely exhausted and has a pretty bad cough so she will be going to the doctor in the morning to get that checked out. I'm wondering if it may be what Averi had last week. Averi stayed here with her Juju (Jon's mom) and seemed to do okay. I didn't know how she would do because it was her first time away from us for 2 nights. She was definitely glad to have us back though. She was all smiles this morning when she got up and saw us. I really missed both of them although it was nice to have some time to just hang out with the girls from the team while we were there.

We are glad to be on a little break from soccer. Jon leaves for Utah this Wednesday and will be gone for 6 days. He and Eric (a friend from church & his 2 sons) are driving (yes, DRIVING) out to visit some missionaries from our church. Jon will be leading worship at their church on Sunday. I hope it's going to be a great time for him (although exhausting). It'll be a bit of a hard week for me on my own with the 2 girls so pray for all of us while he is away and especially for his safety while he is on his trip.

Feeling Better

Praise the Lord we have our little happy girl back! She is feeling SO much better today and is FINALLY eating. She went through about 4 days where she wouldn't eat at all and would barely drink anything because her throat was so sore.

I took them to Wal-Mart to buy a new toy with some birthday money Jon's aunt sent. So here are some pictures of them playing with it. They both love it. I was cracking up at Averi's new cheesy grin she's sporting in these pictures:)

Really Hard Weekend

We went to Decatur/Huntsville this weekend for our State Cup Playoffs. On the soccer end, our team did really well. We actually tied the team that won the whole thing but since we had lost another game 2-1 the day before, it knocked us out of the championship. We finished in 3rd place overall.

Anyways, other than that to be honest it was a pretty bad weekend. Averi came down with a fever starting Friday night soon after we arrived in Decatur. Now mind you we are in a hotel (all 4 in one room) in a strange town with a very sick baby. Her fever was at 103.7 (at the highest recorded point) and this is with the Motrin & Tylenol. The high fever was also making her throw up. She could not get comfortable enough to sleep very well. We had her in a cool bath twice during the night on Saturday trying to get her fever down. Needless to say, Jon, Averi & I had 2 very rough, sleepless nights. We ended up having to skip our last game on Sunday to drive straight back in to town to the doctor's office. It worked out that her doctor was in the office Sunday morning and we got there 30 minutes before they closed. So it was definitely a good thing we skipped our game or we would have never made it. But I was not going through yet another sleepless night with Averi being as sick as she was. We had to get her some help. He said her throat was full of puss (the worst throat he had seen all weekend); she has tonsillitis. He put her on Amoxicillin and after 2 doses her fever finally broke this morning (after almost 4 days). I have never seen her so sick! It was absolutely terrible. Her eyes were so red and droopy from the fever and she had a continual moan and whine almost all weekend.

This was one of those Mother's Day's where I really got to practice the sacrificial, unconditional part of being a mom:) I look forward to the ones where my kids spoil me and take me out etc...No but really Jon did a great job helping me out and trying to still help me have a good day. We went out to Jim & Nick's after the girls nap with him mom. Averi was still feeling really bad so he spent almost the entire time strolling her around outside so I could enjoy my dinner. Then we came home after dinner and put the girls to bed and I got a GREAT massage. And I did get to go out with 5 of my friends to the Melting Pot last Tuesday night while he stayed home with the girls. So thank you Jon for all your help this weekend!

Weekend of Soccer

We had a GREAT and exhausting weekend of soccer. Our U12 team played in the Trussville tournament and finished in 1st place. It was very exciting! Our State Playoffs are next weekend so this tournament was sort of to get the girls prepared for that. Also the U.S. womens team played Australia here in Birmingham on Saturday so I went with my parents and Jay & Jeanna to that game. U.S. scored in stoppage time and won the game 5-4. It was an AWESOME game! Unfortunately Jon wasn't able to go as our team had a tournament game that conflicted:(

Averi's Stats

We went for Averi's 1-year checkup this morning (a month late:)) You could say we've been a little busy lately! Here are her stats at 13 months:

WEIGHT: 19 lbs. 4 oz. (10th percentile)
HEIGHTH: 31 in. (90th percentile)

Can we say LONG & SKINNY?! She reminds me of a praying mantis:) Anyways, she is in great health. She LOVES Dr. A. and was totally flirting with him the whole time. She kept hanging on his legs and saying "hi". He was joking about her and saying "so this is your shy one, right?" Yeah right!

He said she looked like a tennis player in this skirt so here you go...our future tennis player?
