Kid's Gym = FAIL

We had not been to Kid's Gym since they moved to BMS. So we decided to go on Friday because it was a cold and rainy day. Let me just say that it is not nearly as nice as it was at the Vestavia location. First of all you have to walk through a maze to get to the room they are in (and it's not anywhere near a bathroom). Second of all...the equipment was way more crowded in a dingy little room. It didn't seem as bright and cheerful as the other location. So we were not impressed! Third of all we had a bad experience with 2 little badly behaved/non-parented girls.

About 5 minutes after we got there, Averi was playing and just minding her own business when 2 little girls who were around her same age started to bully her. They were chasing her and yelling ugly things like "go away", "your not our friend", "this is not your house" "this slide is ours", "your a ghost", "get away from us" etc. Well Averi's pretty tough when it comes to things like this but after a while it started to wear on her. At first I ignored them thinking "maybe I just thought I heard them say that" but as it continued I realized that they were being downright mean and hateful. I was hoping their parents would say something to them so that I wouldn't have to. But they did NOTHING. They sat on their butts and watched the whole thing.

So I lost it! I'd had enough as I watched Averi walk over to me with her head hanging down and say "mommy those girls are not being nice to me". So as they ran over toward her again still yelling ugly comments I said "THAT IS ENOUGH! You are NOT being nice and you need to leave her alone" One little girl actually talked back to me and said "well that's our slide and she can't play with us" and I said "that is NOT YOUR slide! Nothing in here belongs to you and she can play on whatever she wants to in here! She wasn't bothering ya'll!" Then they ran off. Again their parents sat and stared me down through the whole thing but said nothing to them.

Later one of the little girls came up and said to me "you scare us". I had to laugh to myself...it was hilarious. They've probably never been told "no" in their life.

So what would ya'll have done? Would you have said anything to the parents or just addressed the kids? My thing is when it's something involving my child and their parents aren't saying anything, then I will.

Here are a few pictures of the kids playing after the drama...

Jeanna was with me so we stayed on the opposite side of the room from the parents the whole rest of the time. And NO WAY could I not find Averi's jacket when we were leaving and one of the mean girl's mom was sitting on it so I had to go right up to her and ask her for it. I was petrified and ran out of there as she glared at me:)

Family Update

We are still waiting for a DEFINITE answer on our offer on the house but things are looking positive. They are trying to get the sheetrock in the playroom fixed
that is damaged, so that is where the hold up is right now. It's actually a good thing because it would be one less thing we have to do. We are hoping know something for sure next week. I'll keep ya'll posted...

Jon & I are going on a last minute 2-day getaway to Gatlinburg next week. We are staying in a cabin in the Smokey Mountains and may possibly go skiing one day. Neither of us have ever been (skiing), so I am really looking forward to it!

We are actually taking a season of soccer for the first time in 7 years! We will not be coaching in the Spring but will go back in the Fall. We thought it may be a good time to take a break since we will be moving soon and have a house to remodel etc.

Jon continues to work at Evan Terry (an architechural firm). He is really enjoying it and is doing the accounting/invoicing for them about 30 hours a week right now. We are so thankful!

We are doing lots of fundraisers and preparation for our trip to Costa Rica. There are 39 adults/youth going on our trip in March. We'll be gone for 9 days. I am so glad that God has worked it out for both Jon & I to go and am amazed how he provided the finances towards the trip as well.

That's about it for now. I will keep you posted about our house and other news...

Scrap Book Pages

My friend Sarah is a designer for a digital scrapbooking company and from time to time, she will ask if she can borrow some of my pictures to use for a design she is working on. She recently designed these adorable pages for me...

Thanks again Sarah. I LOVE them! I am SO grateful, since this is not one of my gifts!

Will This Be The House?

We have a history with this house. We put an offer on it back in late November, but after 4 weeks of hearing nothing either way, we pulled our offer and started looking elsewhere. Well about 8 days ago they called our realtor and asked if we were still interested. So we put another offer on it and now we wait again:) This house is a foreclosure and needs a good bit of work, but it is awesome. It's on almost an acre of land in Hoover and is also on a cul-de-sac. So please pray with us that if this is the house God has for us, that we may hear something soon so that we can get working on it. Or that He would give us a clear answer either way. I'll keep ya'll posted if/when we hear more...

Looking down the driveway...

Front of the house (yes, it is missing 2 shutters)

Front yard...

It has a seperate house that would be Jon's music studio (if we get it)...

Zoo in January

I have SO enjoyed this warm weather the last few days. I really needed it because that cold/rainy/dreary spell that we had was SO depressing and really putting me in a funk. So on Monday we went to the zoo with my friend and her girls...

Mia Meets Alabama Gymnastics

Mia got to experience her first Alabama Gymnastics meet lastnight. Jon and I usually go at least a couple times each season but have never taken the girls before. We finally decided this year that we thought Mia was old enough to handle the late night (we didn't get home until 11:15pm:( and no she didn't sleep on the way home from Tuscaloosa). She is taking gymnastics this year and was even more intrigued since she is somewhat familiar with the equipment and events. She danced and clapped and cheered and had a ball. Her favorite part was dancing to the music though:)

I'm so glad we took her and I can't wait until Averi gets a little older and can join us. Mia cried after we dropped off Averi at Juju's because she was sad she didn't get to go too:( So sweet and sensitive! We are taking Averi to get ice cream today and she is perfectly okay with that as long as daddy gets to go too:)

If you do go this season I would highly recommend the Family Four Pack! It is 4 tickets, 4 hotdogs, 4 chips and 4 drinks for $20! You cannot beat that! We added it all up and would have paid $20 per person if we would have bought all that individually!
