2 Months

Lila had her 2 month checkup yesterday. She is healthy to say the least. Super chunky even though she has acid reflux which is good.

Her stats are:
13 lbs. (97th percentile)
24 in. (97th percentile)

She has started smiling, squealing, and cooing which is so precious. The girls love that they get such a response out of her.

She has not started sleeping through the night yet. Mia was at 6 wks and Av was at 7 weeks, so it seems like forever to me. I realize I shouldn't complain though. She is just bigger and hungrier and should be soon enough. At least she has a 5 hour stretch and only gets up once though. We are just thankful that she is healthy and happy. She is such a good baby...

Averi's Character Parade

Averi is really enjoying K-4 at HS this year. They had a Character Parade last week where all the kids dress up as a character out of a story book and she dressed up as Sleeping Beauty...It was SO cute and you could tell all the kids were so proud...

One Month

Lila turned 1 month old this past Saturday. I have not had a chance to update lately, so here's the short version of her first month. She has been such a GOOD baby. Very happy and alert and seems to really go with the flow. She has had a few minor health issues. Started out with jaundice and had to be on the phototherapy light for 3 days. Then we also had to put her on Miralax for constipation and Axid for acid reflux. Poor baby:( But even despite her tummy issues, she has been very pleasant so we are very thankful for that.

Mia & Averi are the BEST big sisters. They love to help and are always singing to her, reading her books and talking to her. She loves them too and really responds to them...it's so cute to watch. There has been no jealousy whatsoever. And really everyone has adjusted very well overall.

Lila gets up twice to eat during the night but I'm hoping she should drop her middle of the night feeding in the next few weeks. Mia was 6 weeks and Averi was 7 weeks when they started sleeping through the night. I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much yet, but it sure will be nice when she does. I rarely get to nap these days so I'm sure I will feel much better when she is sleeping at night.

Lila's Birth Story

Throughout my entire pregnancy, Lila consistently measured 1-2 weeks ahead. And since I had already proven to have big babies, we set an induction date for 39 weeks. It's a good thing we did since she was already over 9 lbs. She would have most likely been 10+ lbs. at 40 weeks causing me to have a c-section. I had inductions with both of my other girls, so it was something I was extremely comfortable with. Actually, I am such a planner that I almost prefer it.

This was by far my best delivery out of my 3 girls. We had an AWESOME nurse named Jonlyn. She was so sweet, attentive, encouraging and even happened to be a believer. A good L&D nurse can make all the difference in the world.

Jon and I arrived at the hospital at 6am on Wednesday morning. The nurse got me prepped before Dr. A came in and broke my water around 6:45am. I was already 4 cm and 90% effaced upon arrival and having sporatic contractions. So once they started the pitocin, it didn't take long for things to get going.

With both of my other deliveries, I was nauseous and throwing up the entire time, so I asked my nurse to see if they could give me something stronger to help prevent that. Her and the anasthesiologist came up with a concoction of 5 different medications to keep me from getting nauseous and PTL I did not throw up once. It was so much better!

My sisters Jenny and Jeanna, along with my mom and Jon were all able to be in the delivery room the entire time. They were all very encouraging and it was so special to have them be able to be a part of Lila's birth.

I won't give a total play by play, but I got my epidural around 6-7cm and only had to push for 30 minutes before Lila was born at 12:17pm with a total of less than 6 hrs. in labor. It was AWESOME! Wouldn't have changed a thing about it! I was so relieved to see that she was healthy as I always had in the back of my mind what the fertility specialist had said that something could be genetically wrong with her. She had told us that we could have tests run ahead of time to see if there was, but we knew that it wouldn't change anything for us, we would love her no matter what.

After Lila was safely in my arms, my OB was praying for Lila and thanking God for our little miracle and he got a little choked up while praying. It was very touching as he is a dear friend of ours and his been with us through EVERYTHING! We are so thankful that God put Dr. A in our lives. Here are some pictures of that amazing day...

Lila Mackenzie Spain
Birthdate: October 5, 2011
Weight: 9lbs. 5oz.
Length: 21 3/4 in.

Lila joined our family 10 days ago and is already SO very loved. She has a real sweetness about her and is absolute perfection. Her big sisters took to her immediately and have accepted her so well. They love to help mommy out with her and are always drawing her pictures and kissing on her.

We are so thankful for our little miracle as we were told just 14 mos. ago that I would most likely not ever be able to carry another one full term. In many ways it still seems surreal to me that I have a baby. But I am enjoying and cherishing every moment with her. Knowing this is my last is really helping me to do that.

Thank you so much for of your prayers and support these past few years. God is good ALL the time!

It Runs in the Family

So I had an ultrasound today to check Lila's size because she is now measuring 2 weeks ahead and a big whopping 8lbs. 15 oz. Lord, help me!!! My doctor says that the ultrasounds usually guesstimate that they are bigger than they actually are, but that she is probably at least 8 lbs. already. Oh my! No tiny little petite babies for me:) Mia & Averi both weighed over 8 lbs. She is adorable though and I am thankful that she is healthy. Could see that she has little chubby cheeks in the ultrasound. Fluid looked great and I cannot believe we are going to finally get to meet her SOON!

A little background history, I weighed 10 lbs. 8 oz. when I was born (my poor mom) and Jon weighed 8 lbs. 14 oz, so we were for sure doomed to having big babies:)

38 Weeks

Just About Ready

We're almost ready for little Lila's arrival. We have a calendar on the fridge to countdown. The girls love it because it helps give them a sense of time since they've been asking and asking for months how much longer until she gets here.

Her nursery is just about done. I still have to add a few little touches, but it's close.

First Day of Preschool

Here are a few pics of Averi on her first day of K-4 at Hunter Street. As you can see from the pictures, she was SUPER excited. I kept asking her if she wanted me to walk her in since it was her first day and she would say "no thank you". A little sad for me but I'm glad she was excited and totally unphased by the fact that it was a new school and new teacher. She had a blast and couldn't stop talking about it when I picked her up. Again, thankful for God's perfect peace and confirmation!
