Wordless Wednesday

Mia got a bike a few weeks ago. She has gotten a whole lot better on it, but still has a little bit of a hard time with hills. So when we went to the park yesterday, her little buddy Connor was very sweet to give her a little push each time she got to the hill:)

Here he is helping hold her bike still so she can get on...what a little gentleman:)

Birthday Sunday

Birthday Sunday at our church is one of my favorite events every year. We had a fantastic service with a great speaker and the traditional cross birthday cake where everyone who has gotten saved at the church goes up and lights a candle and places it on the cake...

Then we have a church picnic with great food and inflatables for the kids. Averi had a BLAST on the slip & slide. She kept saying over and over "I go again!"...

Here's a sweet picture of Jon & Mia talking while Averi was on the Slip & Slide. I felt really bad because I forgot their swimsuits and Mia being the "by the book" child she is did not want to get her clothes wet despite us telling her over and over that it was fine and she could change when we got home. She thinks you can only get wet if you are wearing a swim suit:) So I feel like a terrible mom for forgetting her swimsuit now. I think she would have really enjoyed the Slip & Slide too. But I will definitely NOT forget it next year:)

Brown Shirts & Jean Skirts

I still remember the day we found out that Averi was a girl one of the first things Jon said to me was "please tell me we're not gonna dress them to match all the time". Not sure why that was such a big deal to him, but I thought it was pretty funny that was one of his main concerns at the time. I'm not real big on it either anyways. I always think it's cute when I see other kids matching, but I also dress my girls according to what I think matches their personality (yes, I probably over analyze fashion a little too much, but I guess it's a good thing I have girls).

So anyways the other day I dressed Averi in her jean skirt and brown shirt and Mia came in with her brown shirt/jean skirt and asked if she could wear hers too so that they could match. It was cute to see how excited they were about matching...

SMIC VBS

We had VBS at our church last week. I taught 1st grade and the girls each had their own little classes they went to. We all really enjoyed it...

Jorge rode with us and the girls thought he was so funny:) They seriously giggled at him the entire way there and back...

Last day of VBS in our matching shirts...

The kids sang 2 VBS songs in church on Sunday. Mia LOVED singing and did a great job. She says she wants to sing again in church. She inherited that from her daddy:)

Funny Prayer

So the other day we were having lunch and both girls were getting pretty cranky and definitely ready for their naps. We'd had a long week of VBS and it was just one of those days. Anyways, when I prayed for lunch, I prayed that Averi AND Mia would take good naps and would wake up with good attitudes. So after I was done praying Mia asked me if she could pray (which she typically does). So I said "sure".

Her prayer went something like this..."Dear Jesus, thank you for Mommy and Daddy and for my food, and I pray that you would help AVERI to have a better attitude when she wakes up...Amen" :) Didn't pray for her own attitude, just Averi's. I about died laughing!

Picking Blueberries

We stopped to pick blueberries on our way to the cabin last weekend. It was not exactly Mia's thing:) She was "hot and itchy". She helped for about 5 to 10 minutes before heading back to sit in the air conditioned car and watch Dora. In her defense it was really hot...

Averi on the other hand loved it and was running through the blueberry bushes barefoot. I kept asking her if she wanted to go sit in the car and she said "no...I pick blueberries". The funniest part was that she "liked the pink ones" because they were "pretty" and kept putting those in the bucket. So my mom and I had to keep throwing them out when she wasn't looking:)

Celebrating my Birthday at the Cabin

We have some friends that own a cabin out near Alex City. Our family has been going out there for years, but it has been about 2 1/2 yrs. since we were last there. So anyways it is one of my favorite things to do and for my birthday we went out there with my family over the weekend. We had a GREAT time and it was even more fun having the girls with us this time. The not-so-fun part was that the girls woke up at 5:30am because the sun was up and there are no curtains or blinds so it was really bright in our room. So we got up, ate breakfast and went out to fish at about 7am!

Fishing with Grandaddy...

Mia caught the biggest of the Brim that we caught with her little Dora fishing pole:) She actually caught 3 fish altogether! She was SO excited:) But she did not want to touch it! I don't blame her a bit!

Averi & I fishing...

She also helped my mom catch a fish. Cracking up at my mom's face here:)

Checking out the fish we caught...

Rocking on the front porch...

Riding four-wheelers...Both girls LOVED it and begged to go on them again and again. Glad to see they are true Alabama girls!
