Blog Tag

I was tagged in a game of Blog Tag (a while ago) so here goes...

6 Random things about me:

1) I am an MK (missionary kid) and spent 6 yrs. of my life in Papua New Guinea! Loved it and wouldn't change it for anything!

2) I love life and in many ways I feel like I haven't "grown up" yet. I really enjoy doing adventurous things such as rock climbing and rappelling, white water rafting, I have been bungee jumping and would love to some day go parasailing or sky diving.

3) I love to travel and really don't understand people who are scared of going outside of the USA. There's a whole big world out there!

4)I love Coke and HATE diet drinks.

5) I was majoring in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training in College until I got married. Then I realized I didn't really want to be around a bunch of sweaty, single guys especially as a married woman. The good thing is I get to use a lot of my athletic training for the girls on my team that get injured.

6) I played Soccer, Volleyball and Basketball in High School...my favorite being Soccer of course.

I would tag other people but I can't figure out how to do it so I'll skip that part for now:)

Little Cubbie

We went to register Mia for Cubbies (Awana) this past Wednesday night and she is SO excited! She got her bag, book and vest and she has already learned her first verse:) When she got her stuff the other night, she put on her vest and said "I'm a Cubbie now!!!" with sheer excitement. So cute!

My OCD child:) She hung this vest and bag up in her closet all on her own. WOW!

New Babies

We went to the hospital lastnight to visit 2 baby girls! 2 of our very good friends delivered at the same hospital a day apart:) We had a little mini reunion at the hospital with some old friends and it was a great time. Madeline Elizabeth was born to the McKerley's and Eva' Isabel was born to the Garcia's. Congratulations to both of ya'll!!!

And to those of you wondering...no this does not make me want another one yet:) We are good for right now and pray that God will bless us with another one eventually but are at peace with waiting for right now. Especially with our Brazil trip coming up next summer! I am enjoying my friend's baby's for now and have a nephew coming in January...

Back Online...

Yay, we are finally back online! Wow, 10 days is a long time without the internet:) Anyways, here's a little update. We had our first soccer tournament this weekend in Atlanta, GA. We took Averi with us and she was an ANGEL the whole time. We dragged her around to 7 soccer games in 2 days and she didn't even have a nap yesterday and she was SO good. The parents said she didn't fuss at all during the games. She loved being with all the girls and got passed around like crazy:) She is SO social! Mia got to stay with some good friends here in Birmingham and she had a blast as well. Their kids are a good bit older so she got lots of attention too:) We decided to just take one of them with us this time because it's just easier since we are all crammed in 1 hotel room and they are always waking each other up etc. So Averi got to go this time and Mia will get to go with us to New Orleans for our next tournament in a few weeks.

BTW, our teams played really well. Our older team placed 2nd out of 19 teams in their age bracket. We were so proud of them! Our younger team had a little harder time but they played well too. It was only the 2nd time a lot of them have played together as their are a lot of new girls on the team and they are still trying to find their flow. One of our players on the older team got fouled and pushed down and broke her collarbone so please be praying for her. She will be out for 6 weeks.

Another exciting thing that we have confirmed in the past couple weeks is that we are taking our older team to Brazil next summer! We will be doing some missions work as well as playing some local teams over there. We are SO EXCITED about it! Please be praying with us now that God will work all the logistics out and provide the finances for the whole team to be able to go. And also that he will put a peace in the parents hearts as some of them are a little apprehensive about sending their girls overseas.

Internet Down

Sorry I have been so out of touch. Our modem is messed up and we had planned to get a new one this week! I'll have a little catching up to do for sure:) Hope everyone is doing well and will catch you up on our lives soon...

Team Camp is OVER!

We are done with our second weekend of team camp. This past weekend we were back at Camp Cosby with the U13 girls. It was definitely a whole lot different than last weekend with the older team. 3 years makes a BIG difference:) But we did have fun. I stayed in a cabin with 16 girls and definitely didn't get much sleep. One of the girls snored like an 80 year old grandma and her bed was right next to mine:) Oh well! I slept like a rock lastnight when we got home! Anyways thanks to those of you who have kept us in your prayers. Our team camps are over and now we are on to games, practices and tournaments. I'm SO excited about a new season and both teams are looking really good. They did a lot of the same activities but here are just a few pictures from this weekend...

Like I said we had a GREAT time with the team. We had 16 girls go with us. It was wonderful team bonding experience...

We Need Prayer This Week

Well we are about to enter our second week of team camp. My biggest prayer request right now is that this lingering stomach virus would LEAVE our house for good! And that God would give Jon and I the strength and rest we need to be able to get through this week of camp. Poor Jon came down with the virus Friday night. I have never in 7 yrs. of marriage seen him throw up until Friday. Talk about bad timing! We were due to leave for Camp Cosby at 9am on Saturday. And we knew we COULD NOT cancel this trip! Our team was SO pumped about going and had been talking for weeks about it. And there was no time that we could reschedule it or find other chaperones to go. So we went and we really had a great time and it was SO GOOD for the team.

Anyways, I won't give a play by play of what our past 2 weeks have been like. But lets just say this plague has come and gone and we are praying that it is soon on it's way out for good. Lastnight was the first night since last Wednesday that at least 1 of my girls did not throw up during the night so that was good (I definitely needed the sleep). I'm praying that means it's soon to be over. Oh and on top of poor little Averi being so sick, she is also cutting ALL FOUR molars at the same time! I just feel so bad for her and Mia both. It's hard for me to watch them be sick for this long. The strange thing is they are usually fine during the day and then the throw up comes at night; although each day they have seemed to be a little weaker. Wierdest virus I've ever seen!

I am going to try and catch a nap while the girls are sleeping but I will post pictures and give you an update on our Camp Cosby trip later....
