Brisbane, Here We Come...

It's official, Jon and I will be taking (some of) our soccer team to Brisbane, Australia for a missions trip this summer. We will be working with the Campus Outreach Ministry and holding a soccer camp there. I know it may seem a little strange going to Australia for a missions trip, but there is actually a less than 10% Christian population in the country. There is a huge need for the Gospel there as it is a highly secular country. Please be praying with and for us as we begin to raise support and put our team together for this trip. I will be giving updates throughout the process.

The Good and the Bad

Good News:

My dad made it home safely from Kazakstan on Tuesday night. We have enjoyed spending some time with him the last couple days. Mia got on this kick of wanting a fishing pole, so the first thing she asked "Da-daddy" to do was take her to buy one. And then she said "can you please buy Averi one too so that we can both have one?"

So yesterday morning he took us to McDonald's for breakfast and then headed to Wal-Mart to buy them their Dora fishing poles:) They are so excited - not that Averi even knows what it is but she likes it because Mia likes it:) Now Mia keeps asking when they can go fishing...I told her maybe in the next couple weeks if it warms up. My dad loves to fish...He used to take us all the time when we were little so now it'll be a fun little tradition for him to start with the girls.

Bad News:

My grandmother who has had breast cancer in the past and has been in remission for the past few years just found a lump on her breast. We do not know anything yet but it's obviously very scary for her and all of us. She is actually moving down here to live with my parents for a while so that she can get back surgery, and now they will be getting this checked into ASAP as well. She lives in MI so my mom and dad will be heading up there to move her down in the next couple weeks. Please pray for that situation if you think about it.

My dad has been experiencing some numbness in his legs. He was hoping it was a pinched nerve, but they have ruled that out. So he is going to be seeing a neurologist to have some tests run. Please pray it's nothing serious.

Also, I don't know if you remember me mentioning that Jon & I are taking some of the girls on our soccer team on a missions trip this summer. We were originally planning to go to Brazil, but have just gotten word that they are having some staff issues at Campus Outreach where we were planning to hold the soccer camp. So we will not be able to go to Brazil. Our next option is Brisbane, Australia. Our DOC is talking with the missionary over there and trying to see if we can get that set up. Please be in prayer with us as all the details for the trip come together. We are very excited about it and know that God already has a perfect plan for the trip so we look forward to seeing how it all unfolds.

Poppi Came to Visit

Yesterday Jon's dad came from Atlanta to spend the day with us. Both he and Jon had the day off for MLK day. The girls loved hanging out with Poppi and daddy for the day.

Mia's adorable dress & tights came from Nana. Thanks for sending that...she loves it and it suits her perfectly. I want one in my size:)

Mia's Chore Chart

I have been trying to find a way to organize and get Mia excited about doing chores. So lastnight we were at Barnes & Noble and found this Melissa & Doug Responsibility Chart. It is really cute and has a ton of different ideas for chores. Each week you can change out/alter the chores. Mia absolutely thinks it is the coolest thing ever. She gets to pick out a smiley face magnet after each chore is complete. At the end of the week, she will get a small allowance or get to go get ice cream if she does a good job. I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for something to use...It runs between $15 & $20 and the recommended age for use is 3+.

Meet Jonah

So, we got a new cat last week. Mia has been asking for a cat ever since her birthday last May. And Averi gets so excited every time she sees one too. We considered getting a kitten, but since they are so playful and needy at first, we decided against it. Then some of our friend's were trying to find a home for their 2 year old cat, Jonah. So Jon and I talked about it and decided we would take him.

I haven't posted about it until now because for one we have been very busy with Parker's arrival, but also because he did a lot of hiding for the first few days. He had to adjust to a new house and 4 new people (2 being small children), but he has come a long way and is doing great now. And of course Mia & Averi LOVE him.

He loves to hide under our bed, so the first few days the girls did a lot of this...peeking at him under the bed.

Meeting Our New Cousin Parker

Averi was ALL OVER him. She kept trying to take him from me like he was her baby doll. Definitely gonna have to watch her around him...lol:)

Mia loved his hair and kept saying how soft it was.

And this was her reaction when I asked her if she wanted to hold him. She was petrified and quickly replied "no thank you" :)

Day at Kid's Gym

I took the girl's to play at a place called Kid's Gym this morning. It was a lot of fun and they totally loved it. There were all kinds of things to climb, slides, a trampoline, a balance beam, monkey bars, balls, etc.
